WOOD
Expanding
Wood holds the expansive expression of life. There is a deeply motivated drive and forward motion inherent to its nature. Spring rises, the sun returns, plants awaken and there is a stirring within the earth. For you there is great power here, for you know it all too well: strength, force, power, vision, a desire to control what's to come. This is your inner General, directing the show.
With this, you must also be considerate, cautious, compassionate and remember to soften at times, in order to achieve a healthy and successful expression of growth and maturation. There is a soft yin within the power of the Wood element.

video block: support liver, release stagnation, release anger.
What if we stopped striving for something illusory and instead, engaged more deeply with what is before us?
Push too hard and we break down. If the vision is not supported, it collapses readily. The wisdom within Wood is to build slowly, over years — allow for gradual change and you will sustain.
You know the cycles: the new program, the new discipline, the burst of resolve. Three good weeks. Then the collapse, the quiet shame or poor self-chatter and — after enough time passes — the next beginning. Starting again and again is not a character flaw, it is part of nature.
“Everyone knows the use of the useful,
but no one knows the use of the useless.
The tree that cannot be cut
is the one that lives out its years.”
“Not how do I stay disciplined — but what direction is actually mine?”
Often where we get trapped is when our emotions begin to smolder beneath the surface into anger, frustration, shame, sorrow, rage, or jaded protective patterns. Swallowed for years, because you learned early that your anger was too much, or useless, or dangerous. We can learn from these moments; they hold big medicine in life. A man who swallows his anger long enough stops feeling it as anger. He feels it as numb flatness. As no drive. As not knowing what he wants anymore. The fire didn't go out. It went under.
Stay true to your dreams. Wood energy is about the expression of beauty that was found through your own stillness. Carry that with you. Let the anger and resentment become a motivator to keep clearing out what is not feeding your soul. That's the real question of this territory. Not how do I stay disciplined — but what direction is actually mine? What is my true pole star that I am destined to connect with?
Questions to sit with:
What have I started over and over — and what does the loop protect me from finishing?
What decision have I been circling without making?
Where in my life am I angry and calling it something else?
What lies beneath my own anger?
For when you are ready:
What did I learn, early, about what happens when I show my anger?
What did the anger originally love — and is it still worth defending?
If nothing could fail, what direction would I choose? And what's the smallest step into that unknown?
What is my true motivation?
