ELEMENTAL PORTALS

Use these links to Explore the Cauldron. Each Portal provides a glimpse into the bigger work we are doing within Elemental Crossroads.

Dive deep.

Enjoy the ride.

Each of the Elemental Portals holds a full architecture for living: daily practices and rituals tuned to that element's particular medicine, dietary recommendations based on Classical Chinese Medicine principles, somatic work (breathwork, qi gong, contemplation), self-care protocols for when you're stuck, and much more.

You won't stay in one portal. You'll move through all five, as you see fit and for what is coming up for you that day, or that particular week. You’ll see that your immediate health concerns likely fall under a particular Element. Some might cross-over and blend. You’ll find what you’re looking for and if you have questions, please post them in the Signal Chat Group.

This is not optimized wellness. This is real medicine: slow and embodied, met with the understanding that a man moving through his mid-life is not broken. He's becoming who he needs to be - for himself and for his community.

OPENING (Begin Here):

Your Primary Health Concerns

Before you move through the five elements of the Cauldron, pause and take stock of where you are. What is actually coming up for you in this moment of your life? Most men arrive at this work carrying a handful of concerns they have stopped noticing because they have lived with them for so long.

Some are in the body: a digestive track that is chronically inflamed, sleep that is shallow and interrupted, old injuries that stay stiff, no matter what you do.

Some are in the mind: a low hum of worry, a temper that flares faster than it used to, a sense that you are always rushing to the next thing, never dropping into your own moment.

Some are quieter and live in the spirit: a feeling that a part of you has gone missing, or that the life you are living no longer fits the man you have become.

Before jumping into the Cauldron, I ask that you take a moment for yourself. Take a few minutes with the prompts below. Write your answers down. You will come back to them as you move through the Elemental Portals. Through this process, you will have a clearer understanding of what needs attention and which practices speak to you first.

Contemplation prompts:

  1. Body. What does your body ask of you most often? Where do you feel strain, depletion, or restlessness? Is there a symptom you have learned to live with that you would rather not?

  2. Mind. Which thoughts return when you are tired or run down? Do you notice worry, irritability, a racing mind, or a flatness where interest used to live?

  3. Spirit. When do you feel most like yourself? When do you feel furthest away? Is there a question about meaning or purpose that you keep setting aside?

  4. Evolution. Where in your life are you being asked to change? What version of yourself are you growing out of, and what is trying to come in?

  5. Men's support. Who do you talk to about the things that matter? Is there a space where you can be honest without performing? Where do you feel the absence of other men?

  6. Community. What does your community look like right now and what do you want it to look like in a year? Do your relationships nourish you, or do they drain you? Are there new avenues of interests and connections that you want to create this year?

  7. Self. What do I want to get out of this time with Elemental Crossroads and The Cauldron?

Your five concerns:

In your journal, list the five health concerns that feel most pressing right now. Be specific. "Bad sleep" is a starting point. "Waking at 3 a.m. with an unstoppable mind and jaw tension, four nights a week for the past year" is a concern you can work with.

How this program can support you:

For each concern, consider how the five-element framework of the Cauldron might support you. Some concerns will touch every area. Others will sit mainly in one. Notice where the connections are. Often the concern you named under "body" is also a concern of the mind and the spirit, and the element that speaks to it will show you where to begin.

As you explore the elements, return to this list. Circle the element that stirs something in you when you read it. That is often the one with the most to teach you right now.

CLOSING (Continue the Work):

Full Circle of the Five Elements

Recognize it. Honor it. Help it move.

Every element carries emotions and sensations that, in balance, is a gift. Each one has a shadow it falls into when it loses its anchor. Learning to understand and sense which element has hold of you is the foundation of this work. You do not need to master all five at once. Begin with the one that stirred you most when you read it, and let it lead you to the others.

When you feel yourself pulled off center, run three questions:

  1. Where do I feel this in my body?

    • The body names the element before the mind does. Tight and clenched is Wood. Wired, scattered, or hollow is Fire. Heavy, looping, or unsettled in the gut is Earth. Shallow and tight in the chest is Metal. Bracing, depleted, or numb is Water.

  2. What is this emotion trying to do for me?

    • Every emotion is a guide, leading us deeper into our human experience. Are you willing to go there? Anger guards what matters. Joy signals connection. Worry tries to care. Grief honors what was loved. Fear protects.

  3. What does this element need to move again?

    • Wood needs to be expressed and moved. Fire needs connection, inspiration and soothing. Earth needs rhythm, support, and nourishment. Metal needs the exhale and the letting go, the anguish - felt. Water needs to rest, it needs the reserve refilled, then one small step to make a shift.

Return to your five health concerns from the beginning of this journey. Notice which elements have spoken to them. Notice what has begun to shift.
